CHRIS LOSETH NAMED TO BC HALL OF FAME
Chris Loseth, the first jockey to win Sovereign Awards as both Canada’s leading apprentice in 1976 and the country’s outstanding jockey in 1984, is a 2009 inductee to the prestigious BC Sports Hall of Fame. He retired in June, 2005, with a career record of 3,668 wins with earnings in excess of $32 million.
Already a member of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, Loseth becomes only the second jockey to be honoured by the BC Sports Hall of Fame. The late Hedley Woodhouse was inducted in 1979.
Born and raised in Fort Nelson, B.C., Loseth remains one of the most popular figures at Hastings Racecourse as he continues to work in the background with trainer and wife Tracy McCarthy.
